EION Receives 2008 IEEE Award for IP Solutions Over Satellite, Wired, and Wireless Networks

Ottawa Company Recognized at IEEE Ottawa AGM as Leader in Wireless Communications

OTTAWA, Canada, November 11, 2008 - EION Inc., a global provider of Flexible WiMAX Systems, Intelligent Broadband Wireless Systems, and Advanced IP Software Solutions, today announced that it has been selected for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Ottawa Section Award 2008. This award acknowledges EION Wireless’ proven track record of collaboration between universities and industry; leading the research and development work in providing the broadest line of IP solutions for data and voice over satellite, wired, and wireless networks.

The IEEE award is presented each year to a company in Ottawa by the local IEEE Ottawa Section. Award winners are selected based on criteria for: innovation and patents; products and technology; benefits and services for the region, province, and country; employment; and a market driven strategy for the local and international industry.

“EION Inc. is a stellar example for Canada in implementing a collaboration model to transform complex technologies from universities to commercial business-value through a strong partnership with researchers and students.” says Dr. Wahab Almuhtadi, P.Eng., Chair of the IEEE Ottawa Section. “The technology collaboration model adopted by EION has repeatedly demonstrated maximum commercialization impact of investments in Universities and is a significant contribution to the community served by IEEE Canada.”

“We are delighted to be presented with this award from the IEEE Ottawa Section,” said Dr. Anand Srinivasan, VP of Engineering, EION Wireless. “Receiving this award further validates our technology vision and affirms the community values adopted by our employees. I am also indebted to the Ontario Centre of Excellence and Precarn; these organizations have truly fostered the development of local talent within the IEEE community through their sponsorship of projects with EION.”

Award recipients will be recognized at the IEEE Ottawa Section Annual General Meeting and dinner on November 11, 2008 at the Conference Centre, Hampton Inn, Ottawa.
