One Hundred Mile WiMAX Range
MAX-Lite and MAX-RBS Join the Award Winning Libra MAX Product Line
New Products address market demand for fixed WiMAX
Ottawa, Canada, September 3, 2008 — EION Wireless, a global provider of Broadband
Wireless products today announced the commercial availability of the MAX-Lite and MAX-RBS
WiMAX Base Stations. The two new products become part of the award winning 3.3 to 3.6 GHz
Libra MAX family. Libra MAX family delivers a range of fixed WiMAX compliant base station
and subscriber station products with exceptional performance, scalability and coverage.
Libra MAX-RBS is a full line speed Rapid Backhaul System that offers increased flexibility to
service providers with their installation options. Chaining together multiple RBS stations can
effectively increase the reach of a WiMAX network to cover hundreds of miles. In addition to
extending range and avoiding obstacles, MAX-RBS can create ring and mesh backbone
networks.
The Libra MAX-Lite is a full-featured WiMAX Base Station, in a convenient all-outdoor
enclosure for the cost-effective delivery of broadband wireless services in the 3.3 to 3.6 GHz
bands. MAX-Lite takes all of the popular features from EION’s chassis based system and
repackages them into an outdoor enclosure for the rapid deployment of point-to-point and
point-to-multipoint WiMAX networks.
“By concentrating on excellence in the fixed WiMAX space, we are able to very quickly release a
series of products that change the way service providers think about WiMAX,” claims EION’s
General Manager of WiMAX products, Anand Srinivasan. “The ability of the MAX-RBS to
extend the range of a WiMAX system and provide unparalleled reachability truly makes this the
most versatile fixed WiMAX product on the market today.”
“What we have seen from many of our customers is the demand for increased flexibility and
compactness when deploying fixed WiMAX networks. Often the requirements only call for a
single sector deployment - it is for these customers that we have developed the MAX-Lite
product,” said Richard Kelland, EION Marketing. “With these products EION is on the path to
the commoditization of fixed WiMAX, similar what was done in the past with WiFi technology.”
The Libra MAX-Lite and MAX-RBS enter commercial availability on September 3, joining the
Libra MAX family, which was named Product of the Year by TMC Communications Magazine.
