EION Wireless and HULU Announce WiMAX Interoperability

WiMAX Vendors Announce Successful Completion of Field Trials

OTTAWA, Canada & KISTA, Sweden – March 10, 2008 — EION Wireless, a global provider of Broadband Wireless Access and Backhaul products and HULU today announced the successful completion of interoperability testing between the two companies WiMAX products. WiMAX interoperability and openness are just some of the driving forces behind WiMAX and are the key reasons for the current momentum and broad acceptance of the standard with service providers and the telecom industry.

HULU’s 3.5 GHz outdoor CPEs were tested with the Libra MAX base station in Point-to-Multipoint and Point-to-Point configurations. EION engineers ran the combined system through a variety of tests and sample applications and found outstanding results for link performance, reliability and throughput.

The award winning, carrier class EION Libra MAX product family offers service providers a scalable approach to WiMAX system deployment. Customers can choose among a range of base station configurations from entry level single-sector designs to flexible multi-sector base stations that support thousands of end users.

Libra MAX has been awarded the winner of the Product of the Year Award by TMC Communication Solutions for its dual-mode operation. Under dual mode operation, a single Libra MAX Base Station can support subscriber stations communication using the IEEE 802.16 as well as subscribers using a proprietary Turbo W-OFDM protocol. This dual-mode solution is adopted by banks, private enterprise and governments that require the security of the W-OFDM standard combined with the ability to provide standards based public WiMAX access.

The dual-mode Libra MAX platform is currently deployed in several nationwide deployments in the Middle East and Eastern Europe delivering carrier-class triple play (voice/data/video) services.
