New Addition to Ranger Family Provides Increased Throughput for Wireless Backhaul
March 9, 2006 - Ottawa, Canada; EION Wireless is pleased to introduce a new member into its Ranger Family of broadband wireless products, the Ranger 5050 Wireless Point-to-Point Bridge. The Ranger 5050 is a high-capacity, rugged, all-outdoor radio optimized for backhaul of Ethernet data, voice and video. It joins EION’s fully supported suite of Rugged Wireless Communication Solutions.
The Ranger 5050 features 5.3 GHz and 5.7 GHz license-free radio operation. EION’s Ranger 5050 creates a low-latency, high-bandwidth communication link capable of supporting data rates up to 54 Mbps. It is an ideal solution for Metropolitan Area Networks and backbone extensions spanning distances up to 15 kilometers. The Ranger 5050 is enabled with a collision free routing protocol including built-in QoS and VLAN capabilities.
The Ranger 5050’s low cost per megabit makes it an attractive choice for large bandwidth triple-play applications with voice, data and video.
In keeping with EION’s design for reliable outdoor operation, the Ranger 5050 is packaged in a rugged enclosure. For increased dependability during extreme weather conditions, the Ranger 5050 is equipped with Peltier chips that provide heating and cooling to extend the operating temperature range.
The Ranger 5050 provides multiple advanced security features to keep your data, voice and video protected. Control over which machines have access to the wireless bridges is provided through RADIUS authentication, MAC filtering Ethertype filtering and IP based filtering; built-in AES-128 encryption further enhances the security capabilities of the bridge.
"This new addition to our wireless portfolio allows EION to reach new markets and to better serve existing ones" explains Bruno Lepine, Business Development Manager, "The Ranger 5050 presents the ideal solution to satisfy high-bandwidth requirements such as Video Surveillance and High-Speed Internet Connectivity as well as providing a cost-effective alternative to leased lines."
The Ranger 5050, joins EION's Rugged Wireless Communication Solution (RWCS) which has been successfully deployed in communities globally. The Rugged Wireless Communication Solution consists of a suite of powerful wireless radios and routers that are simple to deploy and effortless to manage.
