October 31 2005, Cartagena de Indias, Colombia - EION Wireless together with its partner, Telenorma, participated in Andicom 2005 - the National & Andean Telecommunications Congress. Andicom is a meeting point for those interested in the development of telecommunications services and information technology in the Andean Region and has been recognized as the most important academic and business meeting in the region.
Canada was the Guest Nation of the show this year with the theme of the conference being convergence; bringing data, voice, and video services together to serve regional communities. Over two thousand telecommunications sector representatives from government agencies, regulators, operators, equipment and solution providers, investors, consultants, and the academic community gathered over the course of the three day conference.
EION Wireless was pleased to once again participate in the conference as it has deployed numerous rugged wireless communication solutions in Latin America. At the conference, Harry Silverstone, Director of Business Development and Technology for EION, presented on its Remote Community WISP in a Box solution. The Remote Community WISP in a Box contains all of the preconfigured hardware and software required to deploy and manage a Wireless ISP.
Mr. Silverstone addressed the issues involved in providing Internet connectivity within remote and rural communities; looking at not only the initial funding and deployment of the network, but also the ongoing network management issues. The presentation discussed how EION, along with its partners generates turnkey solutions to achieve reliable broadband connection solutions for remote communities.
