EION Wireless Selected as Finalist for Canadian Award for International Co-operation

Ottawa, October 29 2005, EION Wireless is thrilled to announce that it has been selected as a finalist for the 13th Annual Canadian Award for International Co-operation presented by the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) in the category of Physical and Social Infrastructure. EION was nominated for the award based on its work providing wireless connectivity to under-served remote locations throughout the Latin American Region.

Working in partnership with local NGOs and governments, EION has used its satellite downlink technology, to provide communication infrastructure networks to thirty remote communities in Latin America. This Wi-Fi technology provides telephone, internet, e-government, e-health, e-learning and e-business connectivity to communities that previously did not have access to telephone communications due to physical and environmental barriers.
