EION Releases New Feature Enhancements to its Tidal Product Line

EION's Tidal Product Line of broadband gateways now offers added security and quality of service

Ottawa, Canada; December 22, 2004 – EION Wireless released today new versions of its Tidal broadband gateways with the added features; VPN pass-through, enhanced firewall, multilink Trunking, port forwarding, and Quality of Service (QoS).  These features are now available from its Tidal 350, Tidal 1000 and Tidal 2000 products, which combined with the Ranger products, deliver increased robustness, reliable and secure wireless networking solutions to clients.

EION’s VPN pass-through enables PPTP and L2TP traffic to be securely delivered to remote users, whether tele-working, traveling or living abroad, and enable access to the corporate network.  Through the multilink Trunking feature, DSL or like media links can be aggregated to provide managed high-speed Internet access. This feature supports static IP, dynamic IP or PPPoE configurations.  In order to protect the network from malicious attacks, only traffic on ports deliberately opened by the network administrator for specific purposes or applications is permitted.  These security controls are provided through the Tidal 1000’s port forwarding and
firewall capabilities.

SeaQuest Technologies, an EION Partner, has deployed a new network using the Tidal 1000 at its headquarters in Rimouski, Quebec. As an office gateway and management system, the Tidal 1000 gives SeaQuest complete enterprise connectivity.  It has enabled applications from simple Internet access to very demanding video conferencing applications.   The functionalities delivered were above and beyond expectations, by including  router usage, bandwidth monitoring, and reporting through EION’s web-based interface.

"We were able to install EION's equipment and have the network up and running in no time.  The ease and speed of deployment allowed us to increase productivity and efficiency within our operations,"  explained Bertrand Allard of SeaQuest.  "We now have a fully integrated and operational network to show customers.  Having the ability to demonstrate a real example of EION's capabilities is of unsurpassed value to prospects."

The Tidal broadband gatweays are an integral part of EION's wireless solutions, enabling IP networking and services, network and traffic management, data, voice and video aggregation.  Security is enhanced through VPS and firewall capabilities.  Ideal for LAN extensions, campus networking, broadband last mile access and video surveillance networks, the Tidal series of products have highly scalable network capacity - up to 2000 users per system, with proven ROI.
