EION Expands Wireless Product Family to Include New Ranger 5108 and Ranger 5110

Addition of New Products to Portfolio will Address Markets in the 5.35GHz and 4.9GHz Spectrum

OTTAWA, Canada; October 1, 2004 - EION Inc. announced today the addition of two new Ranger products to its family of wireless solutions.  The compoany has now expanded the portfolio to include the Ranger 5108, a ful-duplex, low latency RF system, and the Ranger 5110, a multifrequency system that operates in 2.4GHz or 5.8GHz unlicensed, or 4.9GHz licensed frequencies.  Both products provide the versatility and flexibility to deliver broadband wireless communications solutions to remote communities and enterprises.

The EION Ranger 5108 provides 8Mbps full-duplex and low-latency communication link for point-to-point applications.  This product is the first full-duplex radio link available in the EION portfolio.  It operates in the license-free 5.3GHz and 5.8GHz frequency bands  simultaneously.  The Ranger 5108 is ideal for Metropolitan Area Network backbone extensions up to 20km and with the speciallized antennas the reach can be extended.

The EION Ranger 5110 provides 36Mbps over-the-air communication links for point-to-point or point-to-multipoint applications.  It operates in the user-selectable 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz license-free spectrum, as well as in the pre-configured 4.9GHz frequency reserved for public service and emergency response applications.  The Ranger 5110 is the first tri-band, high-power, high capacity multipoint radio link in the EION wireless portfolio.   An outdoor unit installed right next to the antenna, the Ranger 5110 delivers a full 24dBm of radio power with minimal loss.  Available in two form factors with either external antenna connectors, or a built-in antenna, the Ranger 5110 is extremely versatile and easy to install.
