EION Delivers Rugged Wireless Backbone for Video Surveillance

EION's Partner Telenorma trials the video surveillance solution in Colombia

Ottawa, Canada; July 20, 2004 - EION Inc. announces the delivery of their high-performance 802.11-based wireless backbone for video surveillance that seamlessly integrates with Digital Video Recorders (DVR).  EION's solution comes with antenas that cover a 5 to 25km radius and video surveillance broadband gateways that have in-built Quality of Service (QoS), Traffic Engineering and channel separation capabilities.  In conjunction with EION's long range Point-to-Point antennas, this solution instantly has a complete metropolitan/rural coverage by linking in real-time, public safety personnel to their corresponding agencies i.e. police, fire and ambulance.   Customers can also monitor remote sites through live video streaming, ensuring safety of critical infrastructure resources and allowing for incresed responsiveness of city personnel.  EION's wireless backbone provides optimized algorithms for real-time video surveillance over an 802.11-based network, with provisioning for mobile clients.

Kalai Kalaichelvan, CEO of EION Inc. says, "We are delighted to combine our technology strengths in the area of IP Wireless to showcase the critical need for video surveillance.  With this solution, police forces and public safety institutions can significantly reduce their infrastructure costs and at the same time benefit from a world-class real-time video surveillance wireless network."  He adds, "Partnering with Telenorma has definitely given an edge to EION in demonstrating our wireless backbone that meets and surpasses a comprehensive set of requirements from Colombia".

With voice, data and video traffic aggregation, EION's video surveillance application collects and distributes on-site data and video surveillance images to central management locations.  The components that make up this solution are the Tidal Broadband Gateway, with intelligent routing and buffering capabilities, bandwidth management, and support for mobility.  The Ranger 1000 access point is optimized for video streaming, and enables scalable and efficient bandwidth utilization.

"The synergies between EION's IP portfolio and its expertise in wireless access solutions provide tremendous flexibility in deploying real-time applications over wireless networks," said Ricardo Jimenez of Telenorma. "By partnering with EION, we are able to offer cost-effective, reliable and scalable solutions to our clients in Colombia"

EION's wireless products targeted that are targeted for video surveillance are currently being deployed with 3rd party Digital Video Recorders.
