EION's CEO named Innovator of the Year 2004 in Canadian Innovation Awards Gala
OTTAWA, Canada - April, 2004;
EION's CEO and President, Dr.Kalai Kalaichelvan, has been honored with the prestigious Canadian Innovation Award - Innovator of the Year 2004 - presented by the CATAAlliance and National Research Council of Canada. This award is presented to an individual from the private sector in recognition of outstanding technological innovation and corporate leadership that has significantly expanded the frontiers of the advanced technology industry.
Dr. Kalaichelvan has contributed significantly to the communications industry, with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and vision. This award has been presented to him in recognition of his entrepreneurial innovation and successful track record in building sustained and successful enterprises. It also recognizes his incubation of new technology start-ups in Canada that drives his vision. Recently, Nakina Systems Inc. acquired one of his companies, iPine Networks of which Dr. Kalaichelvan was the Chairman and co-founder.
Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance (CATAAlliance) is Canada's leading, most influential and entrepreneurial technology alliance. The 2004 Canadian Innovation Awards also honored Joseph Straus, co-founder of JDS Uniphase with Lifetime Achievement Award and other industry leaders in various categories during the awards. Leading technology companies such as Microsoft, Research In Motion, and Unisys, to name a few, sponsored the awards.
