EION Wireless Announces New TrustLink Technology in LibraPlus

LibraPlus Now Surpasses Wi-LAN Ultima 3 Functionality with 6x Throughput

Ottawa, Canada – June 28, 2011 – EION Inc., a manufacturer of broadband wireless products today announced that the unique TrustLink polling algorithm has been added to the LibraPlus 5860. The TrustLink system strengthens the LibraPlus 5860 so that it can push through and penetrate the most challenging RF environments and establish a strong and encrypted RF link under most conditions. The latest release of the firmware for the LibraPlus, which includes the TrustLink interference avoidance as well as improvements to SNMP management, antenna alignment tools and browser independence, now surpasses the feature set of the Ultima 3, but with a six fold increase in total throughput.

TrustLink technology embedded in the LibraPlus 5860 uses proprietary polling methods to ensure equitable distribution of traffic to all subscriber stations. The advantage of the TrustLink system is that the polling is assigned in real time, dynamically adapting to different traffic conditions. The TrustLink system uses intelligence to determine the number of polling cycles every user gets depending on the level of its activity. This way the network resources are not wasted during the polling of inactive users due to no user data transmission. TrustLink can be employed in both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint networks and dramatically reduces the effects of interference on the wireless link.

The Ultima 3, originally introduced by Wi-LAN over a decade ago uses MC-DSSS technology in the license-free 5.8 GHz band. The Ultima 3 was very popular due to its rugged construction and reliable operation in the face of heavy interference. The LibraPlus 5860 is an advanced outdoor wireless Point-to-Point and Point-to-Multipoint platform that builds on the strengths of the Ultima 3 radio. The LibraPlus 5860 boasts a throughput of up to 60 Mbps in turbo mode and an adaptive polling method (TrustLink) that eliminates interference issues and provides industry-standard encryption methods.

The LibraPlus 5860 point to point systems and Point-to-Multipoint system can be managed using a web browser to access the GUI, or via SNMPv2 and the included enterprise MIBs. The MIB contains traps and alarms for bit error rate, connectivity and security intrusions that can be configured to send e-mail and pager alerts to a systems administrator to minimize downtime.

Users can take advantage of the new TrustLink system in their LibraPlus 5860 by downloading the updates free of charge from the EION Wireless website at http://www.eionwireless.com/support/software-upgrades
