LibraPlus Radios Deployed by Channel Partner TELAT in Industrial Application
Ottawa, Canada – May 31, 2011 – EION Inc., a manufacturer of broadband wireless products today announced that TELAT have deployed EION’s LibraPlus 5860 Point-to-Point and Point-to-Mulitipoint wireless equipment for one of the world's leading suppliers of cement, crushed stone, sand and gravel in Costa Rica. The wireless network connects buildings and remote work sites to the head office and supplies high speed Internet Access, IP-Telephone and connection to mission-critical internal services such as billing and administration servers.
The end customer was using older wireless technology that was unable to provide the throughputs required for modern bandwidth-hungry systems and users. Moving to a wired or fibre infrastructure would cost the company too much because of the distances involved, up to 36 km (22 miles) in some cases. TELAT selected the EION LibraPlus 5860 because of its long range and throughput capabilities and the rugged all-weather construction.
“After witnessing the excellent delivery and behavior of EION’s LibraPlus 5860 Point-to-Point and Point-to-Mulitipoint wireless equipment within the HOLCIM telecommunication network deployment, we are ready to confidently move ahead in the region by replicating this successful story,” said Johnny Cisneros of TELAT SA “At EION, we have encountered a group of dedicated professionals willing to thoroughly support us in the field and we understand that this is the correct formula for success.”
“We are very pleased but not at all surprised with the success of this LibraPlus deployment given the past performance of the product coupled with the skill of the team at Telat” said Guido Curridor, Vice President of Channels and Business Development for EION Wireless. “This industrial application is a key account for EION as we expand our presence in the Latin American region.”
The network uses EION’s upgraded firmware for the LibraPlus 5860 which includes many usability improvements to the graphical interface and additional SNMP Management functionality. The new firmware also incorporates advanced interference handling techniques for successful deployment in congested multipoint environments.
